Community Engagement Service

About the service

The Community Engagement Service works in close partnership with Primary and Secondary Clinical Services and other key providers in Brighton and Hove to ensure integrated pathways for people accessing support, in particular for those who are facing complex situations.

Community Engagement Workers work with people who have multiple issues in their lives as well as mental health conditions, such as housing, substance misuse and involvement with the Criminal Justice system.

The service is provided by Southdown, with specialist part-time workers based in the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC), Friends, Families and Travellers, MindOut, Brighton Women’s Centre and Assert.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement

In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are adhering to the social distancing advice set out by the Government. With that in mind, to protect clients and staff, we have paused face-to-face support until further notice, however please rest assured that we are still here to support you.

We are able to carry out the initial part of our Community Engagement work with you over the phone, so please continue to call. We can also support you over the phone and via email with signposting and information to help you manage your mental health.

Once the Government indicates we can return to seeing people face-to-face we will resume doing this promptly and Community Engagement Workers will be able to offer support in the community again.

We recognise that this may be a worrying time and we are working to maximise the safest way to continue to provide support.
